Go to the sign-up page and continue with Apple or Google, or sign up with your email and a password (a link we email you confirms it) or with a US or Canadian phone number (a code we text you confirms it).

Then setup takes five short steps. Only the first two are required, and the two optional ones have Skip for now.

1. 1Tell us about you: your full name, a username, and your date of birth (month, day, year). Joinue is for people 18 and older, and your birth year and age are never shown to anyone. Leave Share your birthday on to show your connections the day and month, or switch it off, then agree to the terms.
2. 2Where are you based? Search for your city or town and pick it from the list; that sets your country and region too. Can't find it? Tap "Choose from a list" to pick the country, state or province, and city yourself. It's how Joinue knows what to show you near home.
3. 3Stay in the loop (optional): a phone number for texts about the plans that matter.
4. 4Your profile (optional): a photo and a few interests, so people recognize you. Signed up with Google? Your Google photo is already there, and Joinue keeps its own copy, so changing it on Google later won't change it here.
5. 5Pick your look (a theme you can change anytime) and finish. Joinue then asks "What do you want to do first?" and takes you straight there.

The date of birth types in one run: the boxes move on by themselves, so March 14, 1990 is just 3141990. Once it's complete, the date is read back in words underneath, so you can check the month and day didn't swap.

Signing up or in with a phone number? Once the code is on its way, the screen shows just the code field, with "Remember me" ticked and "Use a different number" if you mistyped it. On the sign-in page you can also skip the password entirely with "Email me a sign-in link".

You can RSVP to an event or respond to a plan without an account at all. An account is only needed when you want to host your own things, build your Orbit, and keep everything in one place. Invited by email or text? Sign up with that same address or number and the invitation is waiting for you.

RSVP'd through a link and made it to the event? "Made it? Check in with an account" is the way to check in, and your RSVP comes with you when you sign up.
