Profile visibility
Four levels, from anyone to almost no one. You pick, and you can change it anytime.
Your profile has one master dial in Privacy settings:
- Public: anyone can see your profile, including people not signed in.
- Network: your Orbit sees your profile, and friends of friends see a preview (your name, photo, city, and the people you have in common). That's enough to recognize you and decide whether to connect, without your bio, links, gallery, or favorites.
- Orbit only: just the people in your Orbit.
- Private: everyone but you sees only your photo and @handle, never your name.
On top of the dial, you choose which sections show at all (bio, interests, links, and so on). Sensitive details like your email, phone number, and birth year are never shown on your profile, whatever the setting. The one exception is the day and month of your birthday, shown to your connections if you leave birthday sharing on.
People you share an event, Space, or trip with can see your name and photo on its roster. That's what makes shared plans work, and it never includes your contact info. Hosting a public event works the same way: its page credits you by name, @handle and photo, and nothing else from your profile is shown. An event a Space hosts credits the Space instead of you.
