Share an idea before the date
No date yet? Share it as Date TBD, see who's down, then set the date or let the group vote on one.
Some plans start as "we should do a cabin weekend." Instead of waiting until you have a date, share it as an idea. People say whether they're down, and you pick the date once you know who's in.
- 1Start a new event, give it a name, and under When tap Date TBD. Roughly when? is optional: type something like late spring, or tap a suggestion such as Sometime in March.
- 2Add a place if you have one, or tap Place TBD. Everything else is optional.
- 3Tap Share (Share without a date). Then invite people the usual way, or send the link.
Forgot the date and tapped Create anyway? You're asked Share it without a date?, with Share as Date TBD or Pick a date.
An idea is always invite only. Only the people you invite, and anyone you send the link to, can see it, whatever audience you would normally pick. You choose who can see it when you set the date. Capacity, approval, an RSVP deadline and the map wait until then too.
How people answer
Guests are asked Are you down? and answer I'm down or Not this time. Being down isn't a yes to a date that doesn't exist yet. It just tells you who's interested, and it lets them into the idea's chat and see an address you're keeping for the people coming. Answering takes a free Joinue account. Someone who opens the link without one sees Sign in to say you're down.
You hear when somebody's down. On the idea, the list of who's down grows as people answer.
Where ideas show up
- On Events, under Waiting on a date: the ideas you're hosting and the ones you've been invited to or are down for.
- On Home, under Are you down?: ideas you were invited to and haven't answered yet, with the answer right there.
- Ideas stay off the calendar, Explore and reminders until they have a date.
Set the date
When you know when, open the idea and tap Set the date. Pick the time, add the place if it's still open, and choose who can see it. Everyone who was down, and everyone you invited who hasn't answered, is asked once whether they can make it. Being down never counts as going, so nobody is signed up for a day they didn't pick. Anyone who said Not this time isn't asked.
Or let the group pick
Not sure which day works? Tap Let the group pick and put a few dates to a vote, the same way as Let guests pick the date. Everyone who's down is added to the vote. When you lock in the winner, each voter's answer becomes their RSVP, and anyone who was down but didn't vote is asked whether they can make it. The event stays invite only after a vote, so open it up from Edit if you want a wider audience.
Change your mind
Edit the idea from Edit the idea. Nobody is notified about changes. Tap Delete idea to let it go: it disappears for everyone and nobody is told. Changed your mind again? Tap Undo, or open it and tap Bring it back.
