Comments and reactions
The same ten reactions and the same thread on every post and every photo, wherever you meet it.
Anywhere you can see a post or a photo on a wall, you get the same two things: a reaction bar and a thread. It works identically in Signals, on a Space, venue, or performer wall, and on the photos in an event, trip, Space, or profile gallery.
Reactions
There are ten to pick from: 👍 ❤️ 🔥 😂 🤩 😮 🎉 👏 ✨ 🥺. One tap adds yours, tapping the same one again takes it back. The row shows the top few and a total.
Reactions are numbers, never names. Nobody gets a list of who reacted with what, which is what keeps the bar something you can tap without thinking about it.
Replies
Tap the comment count to open the thread. Replies go one level deep: answering a reply files it under the same top comment, with the person you're answering named on the row, so a conversation never runs off the side of a phone.
- Attach a photo or a GIF to a comment, not just text.
- Edit what you wrote. The row is marked Edited afterward.
- React to a comment itself. That one is a single pick per person, so a new one replaces your old one.
- Mention someone with an @handle. It renders as their name if they're in your Orbit, and it notifies them either way.
- Report a comment. It goes to a real queue, not the author.
A half-typed reply survives the thread closing, so scrolling away from a card mid-sentence doesn't cost you the sentence.
On a photo
Open a photo full screen and swipe up, and the thread for that photo is there. It follows whichever photo you've swiped to, not the one you opened on. Event, trip, and Space albums all work this way, and so does a profile gallery post.
On a gallery post, comments are open by default for anything narrower than public and closed on a public one, on the reasoning that a photo shared with your Orbit is a room and a photo shared with everyone is a street. It's your post, so you can set it either way.
Your own post
- Pin a comment to hold it above the thread. It stays in its real place in the conversation too, so nothing moves.
- Mute this thread stops telling you about new replies. Everyone else in the conversation keeps hearing about it, and a mention still reaches you.
- Turn off comments stops anything new landing. What people already said stays readable: taking their words away is a different thing, and that's what deleting the post is for.
You can delete your own comment anywhere. If it had replies hanging off it, an empty placeholder stays so those replies keep the thing they were answering.
Who can hear you
When a post reaches past your own Orbit, the box says so before you write, like on a friend-of-a-friend post where people you aren't connected to can read your reply. On a post to your Orbit or inside a Space it stays quiet, because a warning under every box is just noise.
