Discover things to do near you
Explore maps your city's venues and their regulars, with the metro's public events a tap away.
Explore is the map of your scene. It's anchored to places: the venues around you and the weekly regulars they run (trivia night, open mics, karaoke, happy hours), so you can see what a spot has coming up before you head out.
Three views sit behind one switch at the top, Map, Pulse, and Scene:
- Map is the places view: the venues around you, with their regulars and one-off shows stacked on the pin. Open a venue to see what's next there.
- Metro Pulse is your city's public feed: venue listings, group-hosted events, and public events in one chronological list, soonest first. The same things the map holds, read as a schedule instead of a map.
- Scene is the part of the city that's yours: the venues and performers you follow, what your people are planning, and everything you've saved.
The quick row along the top covers the common asks: Tonight (it reads Today earlier in the day), Weekend, Karaoke, Trivia, Comedy open mic, Music open mic, and Happy hour. Everything else (the vibe categories, the full list of event types, when you're looking, and how far to reach) is under Filters.
Turn on Only your Scene to narrow the map to what's yours: what you saved or hearted, your plans, and your Orbit's.
A happy hour on its own doesn't put a venue on the map, because it's a price window rather than something to go to. Tap the Happy hour chip and every one of them shows up.
A pin that pulses has something on today. Tap it and today's item leads the list, so you find out what it is without hunting for it.
While the map loads, you see a soft, blurred picture of the view you last had open, and the live map fades in over it. The first time you open Explore there's nothing to remember yet, so it starts from a plain screen.
When something big is on
When a metro-scale happening is on (a gem show, a festival week, a bowl game), Explore shows a Marquee card in the map's corner: the dates, what it is in a line, and everything around it. Show on map frames the map on all of it and folds the card down to its title. Tap the title to open it again, or tap the X to hide that Marquee for good.
A Marquee's own pin on the map opens the card too. One held at a venue puts a spark on that venue's pin instead, and the Part of line on the venue's card opens it.
Metros with an outdoors scene also get Outdoors: the trails, parks, and landmarks worth building a day around, gathered in one place.
