Catching up, and quieting it down

Signals is built so that scrolling to where you left off actually means you're done. A few things protect that.

New since

A divider marks everything that arrived since the last time you opened Signals. Scroll past it and you're caught up. Because the order never changes, nothing can hide below something you've already read.

The missed band

Above the stream you'll sometimes see up to five posts you'd otherwise have scrolled past: ones from someone you rarely hear from, or ones several different people are discussing. Each row says which of the two it is, so you can check the reasoning yourself.

It's a second look, never a reorder. Every banded post is still sitting in its real chronological place in the stream below, and a post gets banded at most once, so a busy thread can't camp there.

One source going on a tear

When one source posts several times in a row, the extras fold into a single "more from…" card you can open. Nothing is dropped and nothing moves; it just stops one loud week from swallowing the screen. Somebody else posting in between starts the count over, so a real back-and-forth still surfaces more than once.

Filters

All, People, Places and Posts change what's shown, never the order. There's no sort control anywhere in Signals, by design.

Muting a source

If you want a source gone, open the menu on any of its items and mute it. That's per source, not per kind: you're quieting that one Space, venue, performer or person, not a category.

Muting removes that source's cards, so the menu you muted from goes with them. Every mute is listed and reversible under Settings, Privacy, Muted, alongside the accounts you've muted app-wide. Those are two different things: muting a source here only quiets your Signals stream, while muting an account silences everything that person causes, everywhere.
