Talk basics
One inbox for direct messages, group threads, and event chats.
Talk is Joinue's messaging. Everything lands in one inbox:
- Direct messages with people in your Orbit.
- Group threads for any set of people, plan or no plan.
- Event chats, scoped to each event's guest list.
- Messages with venue and performer pages.
Search covers your conversations too, so "where did we say to park?" takes seconds. Paste an event link into any thread and it becomes a rich invite card the thread can act on.
Messages don't show up in your notifications, which cover invites, RSVPs, and the rest. When you have unread ones, the top of your notifications says how many and takes you straight to Talk.
An @mention is the exception. When someone mentions you in a chat, it lands in your notifications too (and in your email, if you've turned email on for Talk), and tapping it opens the chat on that message. See Mention someone.
Is Talk end-to-end encrypted?
No. Messages are encrypted on their way between your device and Joinue, and the nightly backups are encrypted too, but Talk is not end-to-end encrypted, so messages are stored in a form Joinue's systems can read. If a conversation needs end-to-end encryption, use an app built for exactly that.
