Posts on an event or a trip
The wall everyone on the list can post to: carpools, questions, links and photos that stay easy to find.
Chat is for right now. Posts is for the things worth finding later: a carpool offer, the restaurant link, a question everyone should see the answer to. It's a tab on the event or the trip (on a computer, a row in its menu), newest first, with anything a host pinned on top.
Everyone on an event's list can read and post: the hosts, and anyone who said Going or Maybe, is on the waitlist, or hasn't answered yet. On a trip, it's the crew. Each post has its own comments and reactions, and posting never sends anybody a notification. People hear about it when you reply to them or mention them.
From the chat
Something in the chat worth keeping? Hold the message and pick Add to Posts. You can add your own messages, and hosts can add anyone's (the person who wrote it is told, and it stays theirs to delete). New posts show up in the chat as a small card, so the people talking now see them too.
For hosts
Hosts can pin up to three posts, take any post or comment down, and announce from the same box (pick Announce to everyone). Under Who can post you can let everyone post, keep it to the hosts (guests can still comment), or turn Posts off. Turning it off hides Posts from guests but deletes nothing.
